Our Story.

History.

Ward 1 Studios was founded in 2016 by a group of visual media artists who frequented a media arts centre in Guelph’s Ward 1. The seeds of collaboration were sowed and Ward 1 Studios was born. In 2017, the studio’s founders incorporated and moved to a second floor studio space in Downtown Guelph. By 2020, the studio has had over 30 artists collaborate on various projects across the country and is continuing to foster the ideas of collaboration, creativity and crafting stories to inspire. From the beginning, we’ve said that story comes first. We wrote it on the wall to remind us that without story the magic is lost. Through it all, the flag we fly is still the same: Craft stories. Evoke emotion. Drive change.

Moving Forward.

Today, the studio is led by producers Blair Cameron, Sandy Clipsham and Alex Vander Vlugt. With a growing roster of artists and staff, the studio has its sights on defining itself as a place for exciting content developed with strategic purpose and always chasing larger and more complex stories to tell. Ward 1 Studios delivers content on TV, social media, the web and even the big screen. The studio is continually seeking new talents and voices to create a diverse roster of storytellers to cultivate what makes a “Ward 1 Studios project.”

Collaboration is our present. Cultivation is our future.

We were founded on the principle that creative collaboration leads to better work. Our team of producers and creators stand by this motto with each project we embark on. As we start a new chapter in our story, we are focusing on cultivating the next generation of creatives to continue leading the way.

Artistic Expression.

We take pride in our office culture and team’s unique abilities to push forward new ground with their creative mindsets. Our studio encourages the team to utilize their respective crafts to collaborate, brainstorm, and produce quality work that strengthens the goal of “stories crafted to inspire”.
